The first woman to write a Marvel movie? Why that would be Nicole Perlman. It's the first weekend for "Guardians of the Galaxy" and I'm chuffed as all get-out that this big sci-fi funny action film -- just about my favorite type of film -- had Ms. Perlman at the keyboard.
She shares co-writing credit with director James Gunn and her story is an interesting one. Do you dream of a world where it isn't unusual to have a woman pen a sci-fi script? I do.
I'd love to try my hand at a straight-up science fiction story one day. "Wilfair" is not sci-fi but rather science-enamored magical realism, so as long as I can keep science in my writing sights, somehow, I'll be a happy lady.
In celebration of "Guardians" and Ms. Perlman, here's the poster featuring the movie's excellent female lead character, Gamora, played by Zoe Saldana.
Did you see it? Do you have a crush on Groot, too? Did you love the Group Dynamic? Group Dynamic is my favorite thing in the fictional universe, just about, after science-enamored magical realism.
Thank You, Nicole Perlman
