I am so delighted and honored to meet readers from points all over, and I recently met, via email, my first reader from Argentina. Her name is Mariana, she's hilarious, she adores the comics classic favorite Mafalda (a 1960s icon I'm now reading all about), and she's a wonderful new friend, through and through.
Mariana is also quite the artist and local fan of her famous city. She created, with the help of her sister, a Motel Fairwil bumper sticker and took it on a tour of Buenos Aires attractions and sights.
I mean... These photos are beyond. So amazing.
Mariana and the Fairwil bumper sticker called upon Casa Rosada (the President's House), San Telmo, and, yes, a cute statue of Mafalda. And so many pretty places. I feel like I was with you, Mariana, as you jaunted about Buenos Aires snapping photographs!
When I asked how she created the bumper sticker, she said she and her sister used cartulinas, a type of pasteboard. Very crafty indeed -- it looks just like the sticker from the Wilfair books.
It really knocks my socks off, the bumper sticker and its whimsical tour. Thank you, Mariana, for touching my heart! And for helping Wilfair visit Buenos Aires, out of the blue. What a fun and really meaningful surprise. Still agog and very moved.
