I'm tremendously grateful for my work. I write about Los Angeles culture and trends and such for NBC LA, and travel for NBC Bay Area and San Diego (as well as LA). In short, I love helping people find new ways to spend their leisure time.
Writing about a fictional LA hotel and motel while also covering the real city has not been a challenge; the two simply don't cross in my mind, even though I do, on occasion, write about the Miracle Mile area for work, where the Wilshire/Fairfax intersection is located.
But sometimes I laugh, as I type, such as when I recently covered a saber-toothed cat puppet show at the Page Museum, next to the La Brea Tar Pits. (This thing is COOL; the massive puppet was created by Jim Henson's Creature Shop. PS I LOVE puppets. Obsessed.)
Very early that morning I'd written a scene with the Wilfair people involving the tar pits. And as I wrote about the puppet I thought, "awww, I want Fair and friends to meet this furry guy. Or what if Monty got a side job here as a puppeteer, to raise cash to make his movie? Or what if a saber-toothed cat lived inside The Wilfair? "
I can be silly.
